Production of high-quality self-adhesive labels

Your product’s label is more than just a sticker with a declaration. It’s an opportunity to tell your brand’s story. The label represents your brand in miniature, so the quality of its production is as crucial as its design.

Selecting a self-adhesive label is not a simple process. To bring your design to life, consider the type of paper, the label’s purpose, finishing tools, and printing on machines that support the latest printing technologies.

Types of Labels

Labels can be categorized by their purpose: Logistics Labels (blank), Color Labels, and Premium Labels. Let’s explore each type in more detail.

Color Labels

The best choice for print of all kinds of packaging and transport, primary and secondary. Currently, there are two main types of printing for roll self-adhesive labels: UV flexography and digital printing. At Elmed, we believe in both print technology and invest in them and strive to improve them technically.

Digital Printing

Key benefits of digital printing:

  • Ability to frequently change designs without additional costs
  • Variable printing
  • High-quality printing
  • Lower costs for smaller runs

We achieve top digital productivity, consistent print results, and the best quality inkjet printing with our Domino N610i machine at the Elmed Digital Center.

Flexo Printing

Flexo printing is a form of relief printing where raised elements transfer ink directly to the printing material. Printing is done roll-to-roll, typically used for labels or packaging for mass-use products like food, chemical, pharmaceutical, and automotive industries.

Key benefits of flexo printing:

  • High-quality printing with a variety of materials and colors
  • Economical for large runs
  • Low label cost

We are especially proud of our two MarkAndy machines, which achieve remarkable results in flexo printing.

Premium Labels

For superior quality in self-adhesive labels, the best solution is digital printing combined with hot foil stamping. This combination provides the best effect on "Premium" products with a perfect image enhanced by metallic effects in various shades. The sophisticated look of these labels is achieved with our Smag Graphique iConcept 350i machine, featuring four separate units:

Hot Foil Stamping

Gives a premium look with a wide range of colors.

Embossing

Creates a pronounced relief on the label by pressing the paper.

Screen Printing

Creates relief on the label by applying UV varnish.

These labels are widely used in the wine, beer, and cosmetics industries.

Logistics (Blank) Labels

Logistics labels are used in both manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors, mainly for marking transport packaging, unit products, pallets, electrical equipment, unit packaging declarations, and tickets for cinemas and theaters.

There are two types:

Thermal Transfer Labels

Provide a durable record, available in various sizes, suitable for all common thermal printers, requiring thermal transfer ribbons.

Direct Thermal Labels

Available in various sizes, suitable for all common thermal printers and scales, not requiring thermal transfer ribbons.

The Importance of Paper Choice

The choice of paper is as important as the design itself. For minimalist labels with little design, texture becomes part of the design. Colored papers, especially black, are often used for color labels. Not all labels have reinforced adhesive to remain intact in humid conditions, so always choose paper types guaranteed for such environments.
